Introduction to the REL Analysis
Still no name. We’ll figure that out eventually. Funny how something as simple as not having a title would’ve held me back before lol. Growth is a wonderful thing! This blog is a reflection of that growth, a space to explore ideas, share stories, and dive into the messy, beautiful process of figuring things out. Welcome to the journey.
The past few years have been a deeply personal journey through loneliness and isolation: living it, grappling with it, and discovering what it truly means to connect. Along the way, I’ve leaned on philosophy, theology, and the scientific method as tools to rebuild both my mind and my life. While there’s an ever-growing body of research on loneliness and social connection, what often gets lost is the subjective, day-to-day experience—the raw, lived reality of feeling disconnected from others. Yet it’s precisely within this subjective experience that a unique power lies: the ability to track and recognize patterns in our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through this lens, we see how being part of a supportive community can transform our mindset, uncover unmet needs, and ultimately reshape the trajectory of our lives.
The goal with REL Analysis is to blend scientific research with lived experience to spark new insights and fill the gaps in existing research on loneliness and connection. These aren’t just abstract ideas; they’re deeply personal, universal aspects of being human. By sharing my own journey of confronting loneliness—alongside cutting-edge studies and insights from experts worldwide; I hope to create a more complete understanding of what it means to connect, and what happens when we don’t.
Recognizing how loneliness and isolation affect us on a personal level not only highlights our shared struggles but also exposes how environments that fail to meet our fundamental human needs can deeply shape our behaviors. Having lived in a world that left those needs unmet—and witnessing how it influenced my mindset and patterns—I made the transition to a life and lifestyle that finally fulfilled them. This shift opened my eyes to the unconscious forces driving my actions, and through this series, I hope to help you uncover yours as well.
From the loneliness epidemic and the friendship recession to the cultural shifts required for genuine reconnection in America, this series explores both the science (objective) and the soul (subjective) of connection. Humanity has grappled with bridging the mind–body gap for centuries—Plato himself wrestled with it in Phaedo thousands of years ago. So, why not join the ride as we navigate this timeless quest together?
I believe the future of well-being is social, and my hope is that this series helps us all rediscover the value of reaching out, opening up, and finding our way back to one another.
Let’s start breaking the silence. Together.
